PTSD and enhanced brain response
According to PsychCentral,
PTSD Patients Show Heightened Sensitivity to Deviant Sounds
“In a new study, scientists may have discovered a neurobiological marker that could help identify patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They found that individuals with PTSD show an enhanced brain response to slight changes in tone.”
The science of rain and the brain
John Grohol, PsyD, founder and CEO of Psych Central wrote; “I am clearly affected by rain — especially when it rains consistently for weeks as it has this spring. And I know other people who are, too, so I thought I’d study why the extra precipitation alters the limbic system (emotional center) of the brain and review the research regarding mood and weather.”
Vitamin B-12 deficiency…
Vitamin B12 is one of 8 B vitamins. It is the most structurally complex of all vitamins. It is found in all human cells where its functions range from DNA synthesis and regulation to blood formation and energy production. But just as importantly, vitamin B12 is absolutely essential for the normal functioning of the nervous system including the brain. This according to ProgressiveHealth.
Balance problems
According the Mayo Clinic website; “Many body systems — including your muscles, bones, joints, vision, the balance organ in the inner ear, nerves, heart and blood vessels — must work normally for you to have normal balance. When these systems aren’t functioning well, you can experience balance problems.”
It has impacted me
“Trauma is defined by the American Psychological Association (APA) as the emotional response someone has to an extremely negative event. While trauma is a normal reaction to a horrible event, the effects can be so severe that they interfere with an individual’s ability to live a normal life.”
So true. I experience these reactions. I wrote a book about my feelings. It was very hard to do because of my feelings and the affects of the trauma.
The need for sleep. Why?
Sleep is an active period in which a lot of important processing, restoration, and strengthening occurs.
While adults need 7-9 hours of sleep per night, one-year-olds need roughly 11 to 14 hours, school age children between 9 and 11, and teenagers between 8 and 10.
A beautiful walk…
We have been seeded in the womb to grow and learn. The learning is sometimes painful and for some, unforgivable.
At age 89 years, it’s been a beautiful walk of 4,643 weeks, 32,505 days of taking it all in.
We should want to be so much more but our minds appear unable to comprehend the experience anymore.
Screen Time
Psychology Today describes…, “Long before addiction sets in, a child’s sensitive nervous system can become overstimulated and hyperaroused from moderate but regular amounts of screen time.”
Attitude
The components of attitudes are sometimes referred to as CAB or the ABC’s of attitude.
- Cognitive Component: your thoughts and beliefs about the subject.
- Affective Component: how the object, person, issue, or event makes you feel.
- Behavioral Component: how the attitude influences your behavior.
Does this sound like your attitude?
