A reader’s insight

bookreview6“Having had several incidents resulting in disabilities during my life, I was interested in reading “Missing Frames”.

My first and most severe injury was a skull fracture with accompanying amnesia at age 13. I have wondered if after my head injury had all functionality resumed as normal, decrease or got enhanced? That question remains unanswered in an unknown equation.

Reading “Missing Frames” provided an insight, a personal look into the mysteries of the impaired mind. I applaud this author for sharing the intangible. It must have been very difficult to write this book so that others could understand what’s going on inside your head. Fascinating read.”

Memory loss became my way…

“Because I am limited cognitively, my story is presented from the life experience I am able to summon and from pieces of paper, conversations, and legal documents; all sketches of tales from my past. I have tried to put these memoirs in some type of reader friendly order.  There will be gaps and some dots not connected because that is how I live my life and it is how I think.” Scooter

Living with chronic pain

chronic pain3Chronic pain is difficult to manage. It drains you emotionally and physically. My chronic pain is coupled with psychological challenges; basic functions that involve all aspects of perception, thinking, reasoning, and remembering; many people take for granted.

If you experience chronic pain, you must find ways to minimize its affects on you. Too often it is the stress we live with that causes the most harm.

Unseen Maladies

BookCvr_Underground.JPGHidden disabilities are real. This impassioned memoir brings thoughtfulness to trauma of and suffering from these spoken yet unseen maladies.

Scooter hopes to help others learn about hidden disabilities and its impact on the individual, family, professionals, and community. Hopefully through this memoir, awareness will be raised and compassion brought to the field for those who suffer from these unseen health challenges.

“Missing Frames, memoir of a woman living with hidden disabilities” can be requested through your local Sacramento County library.

Short-term memory loss is a very common problem but…

memorylossblog7We all may experience short-term memory loss but you should be aware how serious it is if you’re experiencing it.

Before we can talk about short-term memory loss, we need a clear definition of short-term memory.

memorylossblog5Your short-term memory, sometimes referred to as working memory, is the process of temporarily storing small bits of information for a very short amount of time.
